Lightning look to bounce back in Game 2 vs. Bruins

The Bruins played a textbook road game to open the series against the well rested Lightning who were a step behind all day long in their 6-2 drubbing by Boston, and now the B's can head home with a 2-0 series lead if they can follow suit with another strong effort on Monday.

The third-period Bruins nearly lived up to their reputation again, but a few bad turnovers and a few worse calls from the officials did them in as the Lightning took Game 2 4-2.

"We've had a pretty good run so far this season", Fleury said, per Danny Webster of NHL.com. "Often times a lot of things in your game you develop in practice".

The intensity that was such a big part of their first-round series against the Devils, but was lacking in Game 1 against the Bruins, showed up. Through eight playoff games in 2018, the line has totaled 41 points. "We'll do our best to take care of business".

"I didn't throw it at anyone", he said. Instead of the team that looked crisp with every pass, and sharp with every shot on goal, the Golden Knights were undisciplined and sloppy through the first 40 minutes.

Nash, meanwhile, got his second and third goals of the postseason, scoring on the power play at 17:11 of the opening period and 12:33 of the second to put the Bruins up 3-1. They had one taken away on a penalty. You can't play slow the first period and be better in third. "We're having fun. We need to play a little bit simple, especially at the beginning and just put pucks deep".

The Golden Knights, who surpassed its season-high 13 penalties in minutes with 22 PIM, found themselves in the box more than San Jose, 11-6. Shutting down Boston's top line will be their main priority, but the fact that Nash has arrived certainly adds another layer of difficulty to the task at hand. And while Gallant admitted he didn't like some of the calls against his team, or some of what he felt were missed calls, he also said his players brought a lot of it on themselves.

"We had faith in them", Cooper said after the win. The under is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings.

"We've got to execute when we do have the puck - force them to play defense, get it out and line change", Cassidy said. "You don't waste your time with after-the-whistle activities". Even though Boston hopped out to a major deficit in game one, expect to see the Lightning come back swinging in game two to win a game and pull out four following wins. "They came out fast, they came hard and it was tough to weather that storm early on".

Bergeron and Marchand had assists on McAvoy's goal.

"It's just one game", Burns said.

After allowing just three goals through the first five games, Vegas netminder Marc-Andre Fleury allowed three in the second period alone on Saturday.

Game 1 was an awesome experience for Boston Bruins fans. "They were better than us, and then our top guys started finishing their chances". And that catches up to you after a while: You're always defending and chasing.
