Prince Louis Almost Wasn't A Prince (And Charlotte Nearly Wasn't A Princess)

Prince Louis Almost Wasn't A Prince (And Charlotte Nearly Wasn't A Princess)

Louis is the third name of Prince George and Prince William's fourth name as Prince Charles selected it as an homage to his mentor and friend Lord Louis Mountbatten, the Duke of Edinburgh's uncle. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.

Well some eagled-eyed royalists have gone back to Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding day back in 2011 and pointed out how Kate pronounces her husband's middle name during their vows. Louis (pronounced Louie) made his debut on Monday, April 23, in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital. As in the past, the Duchess had a quick labour and Prince Louis was born at 11.01 at 8lbs 7oz.

The birth means that the Duke of York is now seventh in line to the throne (he was second at the time of his birth) and could marry without the Queen's permission. From there Kensington Palace tweeted out the news and an easel with all the birth details was placed outside of Buckingham Palace before the end of the day.

It already costs the royal couple £14,180 ($19,492) for Princess Charlotte to attend nursery and a jaw-dropping £175,21 ($240,767) a year for Prince George to attend Thomas' Battersea school, until he is 13. In total, they were at the hospital for less than half an hour before returning to Kensington Palace. He's a brother for Prince George and Princess Charlotte, and his full title is His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.

She said: 'I was so pleased when I heard he was Prince Louis but a bit surprised because I didn't think the name was the top runner'.

The duke, who is taking a period off following the birth of his son, signed the birth certificate earlier on Tuesday at Kensington Palace.

But luckily for us, we can expect to see the couple (and maybe a glimpse of Prince Louis) unofficially at his christening in a few months, the Royal Ascot, Princess Beatrice's fall wedding and, of course, Prince Harry's May wedding.

It's been seven years since Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot, and even with another royal wedding coming up, the attractive day is impossible to forget.
