Salah emerges victor of Footballer writers' award

Jurgen Klopp has hailed the impact that Roma had on Liverpool's star man Mohamed Salah.

Salah, who has hit 43 goals this season for Liverpool and is in the running for the Ballon d'Or, took to Twitter to express his dissatisfaction with the Egyptian FA via a posted in Arabic which reads: "Unfortunately, the way this has been dealt with is extremely insulting..."

Belgium global De Bruyne had been considered the favourite for both awards for much of the season, but Salah's consistent and remarkable goal-scoring form has just given him the edge, winning by 20 votes.

Belgium and Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne came second with Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane third.

Although he failed to score in the goalless draw with Stoke City at the weekend, Salah has two more opportunities to break the record in Liverpool's remaining league fixtures - away to Chelsea on Sunday and at home to Brighton on the final day of the season.

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is nominated for the Premier League's Goal of the Month award for April.

The 25-year-old Liverpool star beat Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne to win the award.

Salah moved to Anfield from Roma last summer, having previously played in the Premier League with Chelsea. But Mo Salah is the worthiest of winners.

The FWA Chairman Patrick Barclay reveals the race for the award was the tightest they have seen in a long time.

The 25-year-old, who will represent his country at this summer's World Cup in Russian Federation, netted a brace in the first leg which finished 5-2 to Jurgen Klopp's side.

He also looks set to win the Golden Boot award to cap a stunning campaign on Merseyside.
