Chelsea captain Cahill talks Conte: Strange season, lots of speculation

Despite regular links between Chelsea making a move for Maurizio Sarri to replace Antonio Conte, it looks as though their interest in the manager could have ended.

According to De Laurentiis, both Conte and Ancelotti interviewed for the Napoli vacancy, in the wake of Maurizio Sarri's departure, but the Chelsea manager proved to be too insistent regarding the players he wanted to bring in.

Insigne has also paid tribute to Sarri, expressing how he expected him to stay at Napoli, but ultimately explaining how the departing boss did extraordinary things for the club.

Under Sarri, Napoli ended twice as runners-ups in Serie A, and made eventual winners Juventus sweat right until the end of the past campaign.

"Now they know him all over Europe and I'm sure he can take his football and his philosophy anywhere".

Chelsea are reportedly hopeful that our managerial situation will be resolved next week. He's not someone who'll use Napoli as a stepping stone.

"There has been no contact - no one has called me", De Laurentiis said....

"I heard the news through the TV and the newspapers", Insigne told Corriere dello Sport (Via Football Italia).

Napoli have demanded that any club looking to hire Sarri must pay his almost £7 million release clause, something which the club's president Aurelio De Laurentiis stated recently is yet to happen.

Speaking on England press duties, Cahill was asked about Conte's situation at Chelsea and whether he wanted the former Juventus boss to continue at Stamford Bridge. "I am very happy at Napoli!" "The end is Koulibaly".
