England claim friendly win over Super Eagles

Former Super Falcons' coach Godwin Izilein has said that Nigeria's national team coach, Gernot Rohr picked the best players that would make the country proud at the World Cup in Russian Federation.

The Everton 'keeper played all 90 minutes of England's 2-1 win at Wembley on what was only his third cap for his country.

Following an inconsistent season with Tottenham and some diffident displays for England, Alli needed to cement his place in Southgate's team and, ignoring the hail of boos, he was making a convincing case. Obviously there is a long way to go, but yeah, we've just got to do what we done today.

His early goal was a positive start for the Three Lions and he helped organise England's defence and ensured they didn't capitulate after conceding after 47 minutes.

The England manager also praised Kieran Trippier, who started at right-wing back against Nigeria.

'The front four, some of the movement and interplay, we looked a threat with plenty of pace.

"He knows what he wants and if he feels those he picked will give him what he wants, let's wish him the best", he said.

Nigeria may not be favourites to win the World Cup this summer but their new kits have won over football fans.

Captain Mikel prepares for his second World Cup and will anchor the midfield with support from Ogenyi Onazi, recuperating Wilfred Ndidi, John Ogu, Oghenekaro Etebo and Joel Obi.

Rohr said he expected midfielder Wilfred Ndidi to recover from injury in time to play against the Czech Republic in a friendly on June 6. In the first half when we had chances, we can't lose our confidence because a team changed their formation'.

"Nevertheless, Raheem has been fantastic with it all, he manages that situation very, very well".

"I think we played really well with the ball especially, created a lot of good chances, far more good situations than we've had in recent games".
