North, South Korea hold military talks amid USA plan to stop drills

Speaking to reporters on the White House lawn, Trump said on June 15 that his predecessor, Barack Obama, had told him North Korea's nuclear weapons program was the "most risky problem" facing the United States.

US President Donald Trump his defended his warm praise of Kim Jong-un, saying his newfound affinity for the North Korean dictator was making Americans safer.

And Trump's unilateral decision to reduce tension by cancelling "provocative" joint exercises by USA and South Korean forces appeared to catch both close ally Seoul and some Pentagon officials by surprise.

It was just one of the surprising things the president said in the roughly 50 minutes he spent on the White House lawn speaking to the Fox News show and other reporters in a surprise appearance.

"Hey, he is the head of a country and I mean he is the strong head".

Still, many people on Twitter and beyond found the comment disconcerting, given North Korea's human rights violations and prison camps.

"We have a very good relationship with North Korea".

And Friday's Fox and Friends interview was not the first time that Trump voiced admiration for Kim. He declared the summit a success that would lead to denuclearization and he praised the North Korean leader, calling him "very talented". I guess they're using that as another sound bite. He speaks and his people sit up at attention. By the way, it was good for the United States.

Harris was introduced by two Democratic senators, Mazie Hirono and Bill Nelson, and both Republican and Democratic senators said during his testimony that they expected he would be confirmed.

'When I came in people thought we were probably going to war with North Korea.

President Donald Trump saluted a North Korean general in an awkward moment captured on video and broadcast by North Korean state media on Thursday. In May, after North Korea criticised his vice-president, Mike Pence, Trump said the summit was cancelled. The civic group said it had received an invitation from North Korea to visit Pyongyang from June 20-23.

During the Singapore summit, Kim reaffirmed the North's commitment to "work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula". "I mean, I could go through a lot of nations where a lot of bad things were done".

Later, Trump unexpectedly made his way through a crowd of White House reporters and was asked about everything from Russian Federation to North Korea and China.
