One Dead In Bray Gun Attack

Gardai have confirmed that the man who died is aged 30.

Gardaí have appealed for information from the public to help track the gunman which killed one man and injured two others in a shooting in Bray boxing club on Tuesday.

Chris Fox, chairman of Bray Municipal Council, which is part of Wicklow County Council, said Mr Taylor, Katie's father, was one of those shot. The injuries are not life-threatening.

It is understood the father of three was shot as he answered the door of the gym, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"We know that the gunman left the scene in a silver Volkswagen Caddy".

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact Bray Garda Station on 01 6665300.

Fellow councillor Michael O'Connor added: "Pete Taylor was shot".

His daughter, Katie, is the woman's unified lightweight champion and won gold at the 2012 London Olympics.

There is still a heavy police presence at the club while forensic officers carry out their investigation.

Local Sinn Fein TD John Brady tweeted: "Absolutely shocking news coming from Bray Boxing club this morning".

Ireland's health minister Simon Harris also tweeted: 'Shocking news in Bray this morning.
