Porche's Taycan will be competitor to Tesla

Porsche is saying the 2020 Taycan should do more than 310 miles on a single charge, albeit according to NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) tests.

By the end of 2019, Porsche plans to install at least 500 fast-chargers across the USA that will rival Tesla's Supercharger network, which consists of over 10,000 chargers worldwide. The Taycan will have an electric system output upwards of 600hp and a possible range of more than 500km on a full charge.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Porsche Taycan.

Previously, the manufacturer has released pictures of the build pre-production copies Taycan, where you can see individual elements of the model, for example, headlamps. Now, as we get closer to the launch of the production version of the electric sports auto next year, Porsche is ready to let us get used to the car's actual name. We'll come back with a report from Zuffenhausen regarding Porsche's plans for the next decade.

Stefan Weckbach, Head of the BEV Model Series at Porsche, recently said that they want to make their first all-electric vehicle feel "like a real Porsche." I'd say this is a fitting name.

The Mission E concept vehicle is a big part of the special exhibition as Porsche presents it as the "the future of the sports car".

Series production of the first purely electric Porsche is set to begin next year. Exactly when that'll translate to cars arriving on American roads hasn't been shared, though we'd expect a late 2019 debut for that. If you've even taken a close look at a Porsche emblem/crest, you've noticed the leaping steed that's been there since 1952.

Furthermore, around one billion euro will be spent for electrification and hybridisation of the existing product range, several hundred million for the expansion of production sites, plus around 700 million euro for new technologies, charging infrastructure and smart mobility. The existing engine plant is being expanded to manufacture electric drives and the body shop will also be developed.
