Who is rapper XXXTentacion, the rapper killed in Florida?

Fans expressed shock and sadness on social media and offered prayers for the rapper, flooding Twitter with tributes and condolences.

Known for melding hip-hop with elements of punk, emo, indie and other genres, XXXTentacion, given name Jahseh Onfroy, began recording music with friends in his bedroom and releasing it online. "You were a true artist ..." Upon exiting the dealership, assailants gunned down the rapper, then quickly fled the scene.

The video for Look At Me showed a number of violent scenes and incorporated footage of real life killings including the 2016 shooting of Philando Castile (who was gunned down while unarmed in his auto in front of his girlfriend and four-year-old daughter). XXX was on house arrest but the judge recently let him out so he could tour.

But after a backlash in the music industry, Spotify backpedalled and said it would no longer attempt to police conduct and restored XXXTentacion to its playlists (although they did not do the same for R Kelly). He was facing more than a dozen felony charges, and prosecutors accused him of witness tampering.

He went on to be featured in XXL magazine's 2017 Freshman Class alongside other up-and-coming artists.

Videos of what appeared to be Onfroy unresponsive in the driver's seat of a vehicle circulated on social media on Monday.
