Salah, Mane on target as Liverpool down Man City

Manager Pep Guardiola admits that he was delighted with the performances of his younger players as Manchester City lost 2-1 to Liverpool in New Jersey.

Looking at their fixture list for next season, Klopp's men can certainly make that a reality. Milan were back on level term just three minutes later when Suso also broke free of the defence to collect a long-ball over the top and fire a shot past the helpless Lee Grant.

On Wednesday, United refused to confirm or deny that Martial, who wants to leave the club the summer, had not sought permission before going home. We have to go back to Cobham and work very hard.

"It's incredible what we have done", Guardiola said.

The Egypt worldwide, who was Liverpool's top scorer last season with 44 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions, suffered a shoulder injury in the club's Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid in May.

"We are late, we know it, but if we play with this spirit, against unbelievable strikers and teams, they will never forget this and it will be so good for their futures".

Klopp insisted that he wanted to do things differently when Manchester United paid a then world record fee to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus in 2016. Beyond Fernandinho, City's defensive midfield options are limited to Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabian Delph, who Guardiola prefers to use as full-backs, and Ilkay Gundogan, who is a naturally offensive player.

Of each club's first 15 games, a minimum of 12 had to be won to fully establish them in the title race, as City won 14 last season and Chelsea 12 before that.

"When I finish my contract with Manchester City, I will be 34 years old".

This has proven even more so this year, helped by the absence of many of their higher profile players.

Perhaps City's eyes are elsewhere, but there is no guarantee that anyone they bring in will be able to slot into the system quite as seamlessly as Fernandinho.

Liverpool have made some solid transfers this summer and have been very impressive in pre-season so far.
