Apple unveils larger iPhones, health-oriented watches

"This major tranche of reboots will undoubtedly please Apple fans and win some new devotees, but it's hard not to see this multi-device launch making up for increasingly modest fanfare that has greeted new iterations of the iPhone in recent years".

SAN FRANCISCO Apple is expected to unveil its biggest and most expensive iPhone on Wednesday as part of a lineup of three new models aimed at widening the product's appeal amid slowing sales growth. A bigger version will be called the iPhone XS Max, which looks to be about the size of the iPhone 8 Plus, though the screen size is much larger.

Reporting by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, 9to5Mac and others throughout the past year suggests Apple will release an updated version of its latest iPhone X model, to be known as the iPhone Xs.

The leaked detail also reveals the new colour shades for the cases. The phone also packs improved sensors for faster Face ID functionality. "First is the update to the iPhone line up and we are expecting three new phones", Abbas Ali, managing editor of TechRadar Middle East, told The National.

Apple has once again taken to its Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino to show off the iPhone XS, the Apple Watch Series 4 and potentially a few other surprises.

"The big thing is going to be how they fit such a massive screen into such a small device".

The iPhone XR comes with a 6.1-inch edge-to-edge "Liquid Retina" LCD display, capacities of 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB, and will be offered in an array of different colors: black, white, red, yellow, coral and blue. Those using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch with iOS 9.0 or later, can watch using Safari.

The iPhone XS has landed.

The sitemap file leak also allegedly revealed a new Apple Watch Series 4 model that will be available in wider 40 mm and 44 mm band sizes (existing Apple Watches boast band widths of either 38mm or 42mm) and come in space gray, silver, and gold aluminum color options.

It is positioning the new watch as a more comprehensive health device, able to detect an irregular heartbeat and start an emergency call automatically if it detects a user falling down, potentially appealing to older customers.

As for the Apple Watch, the sitemap files indicate that it's also due for a size increase with cases for the new watch apparently coming in at 40mm and 44mm versions, up from the 38mm and 42mm models now available.
