Defensive Jose Mourinho Blasts ''Obsessed'' Critics Over Marcus Rashford Treatment

Manchester United punctured Watford's bubble on Saturday, withstanding late pressure from the surprise early Premier League pacesetters to win 2-1 and relieve the pressure on beleaguered manager Jose Mourinho.

A 2-0 victory against struggling Burnley followed by an global break has taken the heat off the Portuguese manager as he tries to inject momentum into a stuttering start to the season.

While Fellaini missed the majority of the worldwide break with Belgium owing to a back problem, he had worked his way back to full fitness in time for United's meeting with a Watford side with four wins from four in the Premier League.

Granted, it was two weeks ago but that doesn't excuse the reaction to Manchester United's teamsheet for their trip to Watford.

Dybala scored 26 goals for Juventus last season but has started just one match for them in Serie A so far this term following Ronaldo's £100m arrival.

"Paul came back after the World Cup the week before we started the Premier League", Mourinho said.

He has to analyse his game time this year but when you look at a manager to player relationship, I don't think there is total trust from the manager of whether he's a centre-forward, a left-sided player or a right-sided one.

"He's having a more hard time, but finished?"

"But I think we need some rules".

Mourinho, though, insists Pogba is happy at United until he hears otherwise from the player himself.

Rashford was one of few bright sparks for Southgate, scoring both England's goals in a 2-1 defeat by Spain and 1-0 victory over Switzerland in the past week.

Rashford has struggled for time on the pitch at United this season with Mourinho able to pick from a clutch of attacking options including Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Anthony Martial and Juan Mata.

Rashford's goals for England during the worldwide break opened the debate about his perceived lack of playing time at Manchester United under Mourinho.

"With this win we keep the same points as Spurs and Arsenal", he told the BBC.

Javi Gracia's side improved after the break and Andre Gray reduced the arrears with a rising shot just past the hour.

Rashford is still only 20 years old, and Mourinho's statistics reveal that he is being played more than any of England's other young players.

Rashford is still raw - his final ball can be poor and his finishing sometimes lets him down - and he makes mistakes, but he is clearly a player for the big occasion. That is why there are three things below, things we learned from these global matches.

Shaw collided with Dani Carvajal last week playing for England, and needed oxygen and a stretcher to leave the pitch part way through the second half of the Nations League game.
