Biden rallies union for Democrats in tight Nevada races

President Donald Trump dropped something totally unexpected on Democrats and the mainstream media - "a very major tax cut for middle-income people" - while campaigning Saturday in Nevada.

"We're going to make a lot of people happy", he said. Despite record collections, the federal deficit still grew to the highest level in six years.

He conceded in Monday's comments outside the White House there wouldn't be new tax cuts before the November 6 vote. However, the Senate, where 60 votes are needed to pass most legislation and Republicans control only 51 votes, has no plans to take up the bill.

Specifically, Schiff and Swalwell want to understand how President Donald Trump is connected to Russian corporations, and whether "Russians used laundered money for transactions with the Trump Organization", creating an opportunity for the Russians to blackmail Trump into foreign policy deals.

On Oct. 17, Trump told his Cabinet to come up with proposals to cut spending by their agencies by 5 percent but he suggested the military would be largely spared.

"She said 'Creepy Joe, '" Trump said, pointing her out in the crowd. The war over Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh accelerated partisan mobilization already underway in fierce battles for pivotal House and Senate seats.

The overhaul, which has been criticised for mainly benefiting the wealthy and corporations, hasn't helped GOP candidates as much as Republicans thought it would.

The Nevada State Democratic Party announced last week that Obama will appear October 22 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He's told confidantes that he thinks his 2020 bid will be the "real election".

Meanwhile former Vice -President Joe Biden says American values are "being shredded by a president who is all about himself".

Mr Trump's tax overhaul has also been faulted for adding significantly to the government's budget deficit.

It was not precisely clear what Trump was referring to, and the White House did not immediately respond to a request for clarification. It should also be kept in mind that Republicans in many states have rejigged, or "gerrymandered", electoral districts and instituted voter suppression laws to their advantage.

On Friday night, Trump rallied thousands of supporters for GOP Senate candidate Rep. Martha McSally of Arizona.

President Clinton had a 48 percent approval rating and the Democrats lost 52 seats in the House. Democratic Rep. Jacky Rosen is challenging Republican incumbent Dean Heller, the only Republican senator up for re-election in a state that Hillary Clinton won in 2016.

Democrats also controlled both the House and the Senate, but their hold on power was short-lived: two years later in the midterms, owing mainly to the rise of the conservative wing of the GOP under Newt Gingrich and its "Contract with America", the Republicans recaptured both houses of Congress.
