Former England boss Glenn Hoddle 'responding well' in hospital after collapsing

Former England and Tottenham footballer Glenn Hoddle has been taken to hospital according to BT Sport presenter Jake Humphreys.

Gary Lineker, the Match of the Day presenter and former Tottenham and England striker, posted on social media: "Hugely worrying news that Glenn Hoddle collapsed at the BT studios earlier".

"Everyone of us is right with you Glenn, sending love and strength".

"The condition is serious but Glenn is receiving specialist treatment and responding well", a spokesman said.

"Clearly when these things happen there is concern to the welfare of someone I know well, he signed me for Chelsea and was manager here at Southampton when I was a player".

Our thoughts are with Glenn and his family at this hard time.

According to Hoddle's official Twitter feed, he was scheduled to analyse the 3pm kick-off between Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolves for BT Sport as part of their live Score show.

'Earlier today, I'm sad to say, Glenn Hoddle was taken ill.

Our thoughts are with him and his entire family.

After retiring as a player, he was appointed England manager in 1996 and took them to the World Cup finals in France in 1998. "Our thoughts are with you", West Ham wrote on Twitter.

He played for Tottenham, Monaco, Swindon and Chelsea over the course of an esteemed career in the professional game.

One of those who played under him, Rio Ferdinand, said recently the Three Lions would have won a World Cup if he had stayed on.

BT Sport has sent out its support saying: 'The thoughts and wishes of everyone here at BT Sport are with Glenn and his family at this time.

Hoddle has had a turbulent private life and split from his second wife, Vanessa, in 2015 after 15 years of marriage.
