Amazon just announced its best Black Friday deal: Free shipping on everything

One caveat: While Prime members still get free two-day shipping, the new offer requires customers who partake to settle for the five- to eight-day variety. We'll see if it makes an announcement in the coming days. Amazon.co.uk will lead the way as usual, and is promising big things already. This experience is open from November 22 to November 25, with doors open for 24 hours on Black Friday itself.

"Free shipping is one of the easiest promotions to execute for a retailer, and is certainly popular among consumers, however it is a very costly initiative to undertake", he said, noting that Amazon's shipping costs for its 2017 fiscal year totaled nearly $22 billion, and its shipping costs over the last 12 months were about $26 billion.

Amazon cut its order minimum for free shipping to $25 from $35 indefinitely in May 2017.

Just over half of all United States households have a Prime subscription, analysts estimate. Perks include same-day shipping and video streaming.

Amazon Prime members still get unlimited free 2-day shipping on everything.

Amazon is now courting those outside the club, hoping its brand and wider selection will set it apart. The offer starts Monday and lasts until Amazon's delivery cutoff window for Christmas (which is usually sometime in mid-December).

Amazon's ultra-fast delivery service, Prime Now, will also offer special Black Friday deals to more than 30% of the United Kingdom population, providing an ideal selection of gifts, gadgets, fashion and Christmas treats which can be delivered in scheduled one- and two-hour delivery windows or within 60 minutes in selected postcodes.

According to the Seattle company's latest annual filing, shipping costs almost doubled from 2015 to 2017, reaching $21.7 billion.
