Cowboys players and coaches react after Dez Bryant signs with the Saints

Bryant ended his eight-year career with Dallas as the franchise's all-time leader in receiving touchdowns with 73.

But his production had been slipping in recent years as he battled foot and knee injuries; he had 69 catches for 838 yards and 6 touchdowns in 16 games played last year.

The 30-year-old Bryant and the Saints agreed to contract terms on Wednesday, and it remains unclear to what extent Bryant will play when New Orleans visits Cincinnati on Sunday.

After months on the market, the free-agent wide receiver has signed a one-year contract with the Saints, NFL Media reported Wednesday, citing sources.

"I don't know how much carryover there will be from what he had in Dallas - it's probably not a lot - so that's a process".

Pro Bowler Michael Thomas is the only Saints receiver with more than 12 catches this season.

The 30-year-old Bryant spent his first eight years in the National Football League with Dallas and last season caught 69 passes for 838 yards and six touchdowns, including a 50-yard scoring play, for the Cowboys.

During the preseason, Bryant had been inside the Browns facility but Cleveland elected not to sign him.

New Orleans (7-1), which has won seven straight and leads the NFC South Division, didn't necessarily need another receiver.

Bryant's presence in New Orleans figures to boost a passing offense that already ranks as one of the top ten best in the NFL. New Orleans signed Meredith to a two-year, $9.5 million deal in the offseason to be the No. 2 receiver. "He's definitely a special player and I'm glad he got picked up and I'm glad something worked out for him". "Really happy for him and that opportunity", he said.

New Orleans knew it couldn't go deep in the playoffs without shoring up their defense backfield, hence the trade for Apple ahead of the deadline two weeks ago.

"The nice thing is we don't play them until December, so we will get an opportunity to see what they are doing with him", Panthers coach Ron Rivera said shortly after hearing about Bryant's agreement with the Saints. I think at the start of the season, we weren't in that position, and then all of a sudden a couple of guys get nicked up and there becomes a place for him.
