Danny Welbeck's Injury Hit My Players Hard Mentally - Unai Emery

The Arsenal team about to take on Sporting CP, prior to the Europa League match at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal forward Welbeck was taken off on a stretcher and given oxygen in the 25th minute after landing awkwardly when jumping for a header only hours after being named in the England squad for their next internationals.

One even went as far to say that he had been their worst ever signing.

Welbeck has suffered from long-term injury problems since joining Arsenal from Manchester United in 2014 and has spent lengthy periods on the sidelines.

Will Danny Welbeck play for Arsenal again?

But a 15th game unbeaten for Unai Emery's side at least assured them of European football after the turn of the year with two group matches left to seal top spot.

"When one player suffers an injury like that the mind thinks of the player first", he said.

"It's very challenging mentally, but sometimes it comes in the game and there's been a lot of injuries, and unfortunately for Danny he's had a few so we're going to wish him the best", he stated. "He's in hospital now and we'll see what happens", defender Rob Holding said.

"This injury is very big for him, for us and for everyone".

"He's been so unlucky with injuries over the past few years, but he's a good character and got a good set of lads around him so we'll lift him up and get him back as soon as we can".

Former Arsenal ace Perry Groves believes the club should offer Welbeck a new deal. He broke something in his ankle and it's a different injury than another.
