The blaze reached the Paramount Ranch, destroying sets used for hundreds of productions including HBO'S sci-fi western "Westworld", network officials said.

The death toll from wildfires raging in California rose to 31 after six more people were found killed in what is poised to become the deadliest wildfire in state history.

Those who fled are desperate for information about their homes and loved ones. So far, 3 of the more than 4,000 firefighters deployed have been injured.

The fire is highlighted in the image, and smoke from the blaze can be seen spreading over the town of Paradise. The flames moved so fast that some had to abandon their cars and escape the town on foot.

Three separate fires have scorched more than 52,610 hectares, forcing President Donald Trump to declare a state of emergency. The severely burned bodies were discovered in a vehicle on a long residential driveway on a stretch of Mulholland Highway in Malibu, where most of the surrounding structures had burned.

More than 100 people have been reported missing.

A one-day lull in the dry, northeasterly winds ended at midmorning and authorities warned that the gusts would continue through Tuesday.

What about the Woolsey Fire?

That blaze also ignited on Thursday and tore through mobile homes and mansions as it quickly spread, NBC Los Angeles reported.

All residents have been ordered to evacuate.

The 48-year-old captioned it: "Returned to my house in Malibu after evacuating".

Airplanes and helicopters swooped low over hills and canyons to drop loads of fire retardant and water.

But officials warned against complacency, with winds of up to 70 miles per hour expected over the next two days.

"We knew Paradise was a prime target for forest fire over the years", he said.

"Winds are already blowing". They risk a lot and they sacrifice by going, but, (I) couldn't be more proud. Firefighters on Sunday managed to contain flareups generated by high winds in Los Angeles County.

What did Mr Trump say?

PG&E had no comment on the email, and state officials said the cause of the inferno was under investigation.
