Trubisky doubtful for Bears' Thanksgiving game

Trubisky doubtful for Bears' Thanksgiving game

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Chicago Bears have listed quarterback Mitch Trubisky as doubtful to start Thursday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Washington is 6-4 and leads the NFC East but travels to Dallas without Alex Smith, who suffered a season-ending injury on Sunday.

Earlier this week, Bears head coach Matt Nagy noted he was "cautiously optimistic" that Trubisky would play in Week 12. It has put his status for Thursday's game with the Lions jeopardy, and has Chase Daniel preparing for his first start as a member of the Bears.

-Miami head coach Adam Gase told reporters that quarterback Ryan Tannehill, out with a right shoulder capsule injury since October 7, will start Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

If Trubisky can not go, Chase Daniel will get the start.

It was a screen pass back to Daniel, who eluded one tackler before gaining eight yards and getting grabbed by Lions defensive end Romeo Okwara in his facemask. But it's a day-to-day thing for us, like I said.

Nagy added that the team doesn't believe the injury is a long-term issue.

"Our guys, once we knew it, we prepped them on what our game plan is as far as making sure they're mentally and physically strong and how they have to treat it", Nagy said. But he has extensive knowledge of the offensive system after being in it from 2013-15 while Nagy was quarterbacks coach with Kansas City. Drew Brees threw just his second interception of the season but more than made up for it with four touchdown passes. And because of the short week, if he does rest, they get two full weeks to rehab him and try to have him ready for the Giants a week from Sunday. The injury is not considered serious, but it could keep him out of the Lions game. Howard sustained foot and ankle injuries on a fourth-quarter play Sunday in a loss to the New York Giants.

"We enjoyed it [Sunday] night", Nagy said. When you have a different player that's in and in the same position, it doesn't mean that they can do the same thing.
