YouTube is adding ad-supported free movies

Maybe you're familiar with this scenario: you really want to see a certain movie, but it's not streaming anywhere online.

Forward-looking: In response to demand from users and advertisers alike, YouTube has now added a library of over a hundred free movies and plans to increase that number as much as possible, as soon as possible.

What films?: Available films under this deal include "Rocky" and "Pink Panther" movies, the original "Terminator", "Legally Blonde", "Zookeeper", among many others.

YouTube Director of Product Management Rohit Dhawan says that they're still experimenting.

You can now add YouTube to your list of sites to scour for free movie streaming, as the video-sharing giant has now added no-cost, ad-supported films to YouTube Movies.

The new free streaming facility also "presents a nice opportunity for advertisers", Dhawan said. Users can watch these films at no cost with commercial interruptions and pop-up banner ads like the ones displayed on other YouTube videos.

There are now 100 movies available, according to AdAge, including Rocky, Legally Blonde, Agent Cody Banks, and Zookeeper.

But YouTube's new service isn't the first of its kind.
