Former NASA Engineer Pranks Mail Thieves With Glitter Bombs

YouTuber Mark Rober was sick of package thieves, so he designed a massive glitter bomb set to deploy when the culprits opened the stolen box.

After checking out the security cameras at his home, he found out that indeed a couple had walked by one afternoon and just stolen the package mid-day.

The fun begins once the package is opened - a motorized tub blasts glitter in every direction and fart spray is released every 30 seconds to convince the thieves to throw the package away.

Rober said he felt compelled to make the prank after experiencing firsthand the harm caused by so-called porch pirates - thieves who steal packages from homeowners' doorsteps.

The police at the time told him there wasn't much they could do about it, he said. The thief opened the packaging in his vehicle and ended up splashing glitter everywhere. The GPS also lets Mark see the box's location. "On every occasion, the thieves abandoned the package once it had been triggered and they or their property had been doused in glitter", BBC News reports.

But Robert went one step further - including four phones recording the thieves' reactions.

Soon after the package was kept in the doorway, it was stolen by a thief who took it and ran away with it in his vehicle to a nearby parking lot.

Viral: The video has more than 6 million views. Once completed, he slapped a packing label addressed from the "Home Alone" character Kevin McCallister to movie villains Harry and Marv - a nice, figurative bow on the present.

"The moral of the story is, just don't take other peoples' stuff", Rober said.
