Jose Mourinho blames Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand for Manchester United sack

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should get the Manchester United manager's job on a permanent basis if he can push them into the Premier League's top four by the end of the season, according to former Old Trafford striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Alexis Sanchez has angrily denied a newspaper report that he bet Manchester United would sack manager Jose Mourinho.

The 45-year-old was named as interim manager by the troubled Old Trafford club on Wednesday in the wake of Jose Mourinho's firing 24 hours earlier.

"When I came back with Cardiff a few years ago in 2014, it was a unusual, odd feeling, one of the most surreal feelings I have had being on the other side, and I can't wait for it".

"I can't wait to help the team, we're going to get ahead together".

He will send out his team for the first time against Cardiff, where he endured a hard nine months as manager in 2014, in the Premier League on Saturday, the first of four games in 12 days over the holiday period.

Although Solskjaer is deified among some United supporters for his contributions as a player, the unusual arrangement has raised questions, particularly regarding his power over players and influence on squad building. "I've already been in touch with him because there's no one better to get advice from". "Obviously this is more of an honour, and I feel privileged to be helping the club for a few months".

The Norwegian played under Sir Alex during one of the club's most successful periods, scoring the winning goal when they won the Champions League in 1999 to complete a historic treble.

" So this idea that these players who are maybe a little bit upset, and not just at United, trust me the modern player they're not just weak players, they're very weak human beings".

"The club have got the scouting, they've got their targets but I've not sat down and talked about that".

But one thing is for sure, even if Manchester United lose to Cardiff City on Saturday, for a couple of days, we've had our club back. "We're a real United team".

People say I'm a bit old school; I call it good school.

"I was quite similar, we were young and were given this opportunity".

"I know people say he's got a great team at Tottenham".

When Shaw did not travel to Valencia for United's Champions League match last week, it was assumed that he was still carrying the after-effects of the injury he had suffered against Fulham, but apparently this was not the case.
