Solskjaer wants United players to enjoy the game

Solskjaer said he's reached out to a number of players in the squad already.

Manchester United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attends a press conference at Carrington Training Ground, Manchester, England Friday Dec. 21, 2018 ahead of his first match in charge away to Cardiff on Saturday.

He oversaw Cardiff's relegation from the top flight during that time but he said he is now better prepared to be a Premier League manager. "They've got a chance to show they are Man United players", Solskjaer said when quizzed about how he would like to leave a mark in his short stay of 6 months at the club.

"I'm not talking about the Beckhams or Ryan Giggs, who is already cutting his teeth at global level".

"Obviously he worked hard as well, that was asked of him".

"But Gary Neville has a wealth of experience in terms of opinions about management".

The former United striker takes over from Jose Mourinho, who spoke only of his pride at managing the club in his first public statement since leaving Old Trafford. It's your club - have a go!

He said: "You certainly get to see the players in a game, in a pressure situation, but I think the amount of games coming up is no problem because you've got this awesome squad of players".

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Manchester United to "play without fear" but warned his players that they must embrace a team-first mentality.

"So it has to be someone from their DNA".

Each of the past four sides to be in front on December 25 have gone on to win the title, though Liverpool themselves were the last side to fail to do so, in 2013/14.

Fans and commentators have had mixed reactions to Mourinho's decision in recent matches to keep record signing Paul Pogba out of the starting line-up.

And Brown has much sympathy for Mourinho's struggles to manage the modern footballer, over whom he claims coaches have little to no control. "You have to play with courage, go out there and express your skills".

He said on Instagram: "Jose Mourinho Leaves @manchesterunited Right now is the right time. things aren't improving & he has taken it as far as he can..." That's a big concern for me.

"I don't think he's conducted himself well recently and I think he needs a kick up the backside", Fletcher told BBC Radio Five Live. So there's nothing you can actually do. It is reported that Shaw and Mourinho did not speak again between this incident and Mourinho's sacking on Tuesday. And I don't think Pogba wanted to be there.
