Hudson-Odoi coy over Bayern speculation Read Chelsea • By Alex Turk

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic says Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is a player they "absolutely want to sign".

On Tuesday evening Chelsea fans received a bit of good news, Callum Hudson-Odoi would be starting the first leg of the semi-final of the Carabao Cup against Tottenham Hotspur.

"Odoi in the last week has been very normal". Very good defensive phase, but very good'.

"He has an offer for two years and I don't want a very important player like Cesc to be unhappy".

Sarri was nevertheless satisfied with Hudson-Odoi's display and said he had seen no evidence that uncertainty over the player's future has affected him.

Hudson-Odoi started to be linked with a move to Bayern Munich earlier this month before the 18-year-old completed 90 minutes of their 2-0 win over Championship side Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round.

"We are lucky because our academy is very good. I don't know, maybe he doesn't read anything".

Chelsea are yet to comment on rumours that Hudson-Odoi could be sold but, writing for the Daily Mail, pundit Sutton was impressed.

Hudson-Odoi would certainly fill one of those voids and, if he does move, would continue the trend of young English players thriving in the Bundesliga.

Nevertheless, an agreement between the two clubs is expected to be reached soon and will depend more on how quickly Chelsea can find a replacement for the Spanish midfielder before the close of the January transfer market.

"I saw him every day in training and he was really very normal".

Max Bielefeld of Sky Sports has reported that the teenager has handed in a transfer request, and that the club will try "everything" to keep the player during this January transfer window.

"With the midfielders we are in trouble as, without Cesc, we only have five", he said.
