Michy Batshuayi should get a Chelsea lifeline this season

Michy Batshuayi is set to return to Chelsea after Spanish club Valencia made a decision to terminate his loan spell.

Alemany said: 'At the moment we are negotiating with several clubs the departure of Michy Batshuayi.

"The player knows. For the good of the player and the club, we are looking for a solution".

The Belgian is on a season-long loan deal at Valencia but the Mirror report that it is set to be cut short as he has netted just three goals in 23 matches in all competitions so far this season.

Normally a lethal finisher in front of goal, the 25-year-old has often appeared tentative with the ball and more often than not, has failed to find the target, which is clearly reflected in his dismal scoring record this campaign. Valencia say he will leave the club as soon as possible but his time in Spain might not be finished. This could be a worrying prospect for coach Marco Silva, who likes to keep things efficient at both ends of the pitch. "He is leaving and it's now a matter of negotiation".

He came in for criticism from Valencia boss Marcelino after Batshuayi suffered a nightmare 45 minutes when his side were knocked out of the Copa del Rey 2-1 by Sporting Gijon on Tuesday.

A move back to the French league could be exactly what Batshuayi needs having struggled for form during his time with Valencia during the first half of the season.

Sarri, who turned 60 on Thursday, said he wanted a striker with different "characteristics", amid repeated rumours he wishes to be reunited with Gonzalo Higuain, the Argentinian who thrived under Sarri at Napoli.
