Rep. Ted Lieu Endorses Kamala Harris For President

Harris, one of the many Democrats running in the 2020 presidential primary, held a town hall in Iowa where a pastor asked what she would do to tackle gun violence. She often deflects the question by quoting her mother, who told her, "You may be the first to do many things, but make sure you're not the last".

She was passionate and definitive when she answered a question from a recipient of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, commonly called "Dreamers", who told Harris that she didn't want to be used as a bargaining chip in the negotiations over a border wall.

Morgan, a longtime Democratic fundraiser who considered a run for governor himself before becoming an independent, said that the origins of his firm's famous phrase is simple: "I stole it from Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence". She officially announced her presidential bid on Sunday in her birthplace of Oakland, California, where thousands showed up hoping to catch a glimpse of her in the surrounding streets.

"In my whole life I've only had one client, the people", Harris said during her kickoff event in Oakland, her hometown, according to USA Today. "Of the people. For all the people".

"Elizabeth Warren kind of got the campaign season started". During her conversation with CNN's Jake Tapper, a man in the audience asked what she thinks of the notion that Democrats would have a better chance of winning the 2020 election with a male candidate.

Harris, a first-term USA senator from California who announced her candidacy last Monday, rallied thousands of supporters at the Frank Ogawa Plaza in Oakland, her hometown and where she served as a prosecutor before becoming the state attorney general.

Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz is on a roll ruffling Democrats' feathers this week.

The daughter of Jamaican and Indian immigrants, Ms Harris said she had grown up in an East Bay community "with a deep belief in the promise of our country, and a deep understanding of the parts of that promise that still remain unfulfilled". The Republican National Committee shared the clip, and also said that her plan would cost $32.6 trillion, eliminate private plans, "devastate" Medicare and "double your income taxes". "Senator Gillibrand from NY is another one". Their early entry could help them establish a foothold in anticipation of potential campaigns by former Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont or former Texas Congressman Beto O'Rourke. "I don't think there's anyone else that can reliably, as I can, beat Donald Trump", he said, wearing a name badge that simply said "Hick".

"If Kamala Harris wants people who care about dismantling mass incarceration and correcting miscarriages of justice to vote for her she needs to radically break with her past", wrote Prof Bazleoni.
