Trump says he knew nothing about Manafort's dealings with Russian

Fabrizio is a valuable asset for Mueller's team, as he is one of the few people close to Manafort with inside knowledge about the Trump campaign's inner-workings and could shed light on the work Manafort did in Eastern Europe for Russian oligarchs.

Manafort was among the first Americans charged in Mueller's investigation and has been among the central characters in the case, having led the campaign during the Republican convention and as, U.S intelligence officials say, Russian Federation was working to sway the election in Trump's favor.

Jackie Speier, a Democratic member of the House Intelligence Committee, said the revelations raised new questions about possible "collusion" between Trump's election team and Russian Federation.

"I didn't know anything about that", Trump told reporters outside the White House as he embarked on a trip to the southern border in Texas.

In September, he agreed to plead guilty and cooperate with Mueller to avoid another trial in Washington federal court.

The revelation came this week in court documents filed by Manafort's defense lawyers that accidentally included details that were meant to be redacted.

According to CNN, Manafort told his accountant in a November 2016 email to expect a $2.4 million payment for consulting work he performed in Ukraine.

"This shows that Bob Mueller can demonstrate to a court, without the testimony of Paul Manafort, that the campaign had a connection to Russian intelligence and the connection involved information going from the campaign to the Russians", Napolitano said. What is new is that Mueller thinks that Manafort is still lying about it.

Giuliani also said on Wednesday that Trump's legal team told Mueller that the president will not answer any more questions in the investigation.

The lawyers also said they reserved the right to fight back if Mueller brought new charges surrounding the allegations that Manafort lied to prosecutors.

The defense lawyers say Mueller's team has indicated they will not pursue additional charges against Manafort.

"Such a failure is unsurprising here, where these occurrences happened during a period when Mr. Manafort was managing a US presidential campaign and had countless meetings, email communications, and other interactions with many different individuals, and traveled frequently", the Manafort attorneys argued.
