Jussie Smollett details his assault in first interview since Chicago attack

Police previously released surveillance images of two people they said were wanted for questioning.

The spokeswoman said the records will be analyzed by detectives, who will follow up with Smollett if additional information is needed.

Guglielmi tweeted that the persons of interest are not considered suspects, but were believed to be in the area of the alleged January 29 attack and are being questioned by detectives.

"I want that video found so badly for probably four reasons", he explained. They insist, however, that these people aren't suspects at this time. "They called me a f*ggot, they called me a n*gger". And I want a little gay boy who might watch this to see that I fought back. "Any redacted information was meant to protect the privacy of personal contacts or high-profile individuals not relevant to the attack", the PR firm said, according to Elgas. "Because I have private pictures and videos and numbers: my partner's number, my family's number, my castmate's number, my friends' numbers, my private emails, my private songs, my private voice memos". On Thursday, Chicago Police Department spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said they have identified the two people in question.

In an interview with Good Morning America, the 36-year-old told Robin Roberts that he is "pissed off" by the skepticism surrounding his case. He was talking on the phone with his manager when he was crossing an intersection, when someone on the street yelled, "Empire" at him.

Smollett later went to Northwestern Memorial Hospital after police advised him to do so. "I didn't need to add anything like that".

"I didn't need to add anything like that", Smollett said about the hats. The men began "tussling", and after a while, Smollett's attackers ran away. There was a second person involved who was kicking me in my back, and then it just stopped.

Smollett grabbed his phone and told Moore that he'd just been "jumped" - and that's when he said he noticed the rope around his neck.

Smollett refuted some of what has been reported, including that he told police his alleged attackers were wearing MAGA hats. And other false reports have frustrated him, he said. "I'm not gonna go out and get a tuna sandwich and a salad to meet somebody. That's ridiculous. And it's offensive", Smollett told GMA.

"Yes, there's Grindr. Yes, there's Jack'd".

When officers arrived, the actor, who plays the gay character Jamal Lyon on FOX's hit show "Empire", had cuts and scrapes on his face and the "thin rope" around his neck that he said had been put there by his assailant. "I said, 'There's a f**king rope around my neck'".

In an emotional interview in which he occasionally teared up, Smollett said: "I will never be the man that this did not happen to". At one point he suggested that his doubters might have a racial agenda, saying they wouldn't be so disbelieving if his attackers were minorities. We live in a society where as a gay man you are considered somehow to be weak and I'm not weak. "He is a victim, and we treat him like a victim".
