Janice Freeman, contestant on 'The Voice,' dies at 33

The Voice contestant Janice Freeman passed away from a blood clot at 33 years old on March 2, TMZ reported, and her mentor Miley Cyrus, 26, honored her in an Instagram Stories dedication.

She had battled cervical cancer, meningitis, and lupus, and her previous partner, the father of her daughter Hannah, had died from cancer when Hannah was only four years old. She died Saturday evening, ET said.

Cyrus posted a tribute to Freeman on her Instagram story, with an image of a rainbow and the words, "This represents you perfectly".

Freeman was from Covina and lived in Compton, according to the singing competition's website. "Her friends and family greatly appreciate your prayers, calls, and texts during this time, and ask that they be given space to remember everything that Janice was to them as they process and mourn her loss".

Freeman was pronounced dead at the hospital at 5:30 p.m.

Janice and Miley even stayed in touch long after the show, too - with Freeman at one point publicly and emotionally thanking Cyrus for helping her out financially and kick-starting her career with all the exposure and assistance during her time on The Voice.

The singer, who starred on the U.S. version of the singing competition, passed away on Saturday from a blood clot, according to TMZ.

Hudson sent her condolences to the Freeman family via Instagram.

Her cause of death was not immediately known. She ultimately placed in the top 11. Y'all don't understand that you see these people on TV. "And she allows God to use her to bless my life".
