Stadium: Virat Kohli-led India eying on historical 500th win in ODI

Australian skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to bowl first in the second one-day worldwide match against India.

Shankar said he would not over-react after taking match-winning wickets but is glad that he could help the tea win.

Virat Kohli was man of the match for his 40th hundred, nine less than Sachin Tendulkar's ODI record.

Kohli, the only India batsman to pass 50, made 116 from 120 balls as his side were bowled out for 250 in 48.2 overs.

Australia was all out for 242 in 49.3 overs, and India led the five-match series 2-0.

"When you get run out like this, I won't say unfortunate, that was struck and he (Kohli) hit the ball so hard and I didn't have much time to get back in (to the crease) but then these things happen in cricket".

Put in to bat, India lost their first wicket in the opening over when opener Rohit Sharma (0) was sent packing by pacer Pat Cummins.

The visitors, however, lost their way after that as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

Kohli was the standout with the bat, as he so often is, bringing up his ton from 107 balls when he smashed Coulter-Nile (1-52) for four and sharing half-century stands with Shankar (46) and Ravindra Jadeja (21), before he was caught off a Cummins slower ball towards the death.

Shikhar Dhawan and Ambati Rayudu were trapped, and India was 75-3 in the 17th over.

Shankar was unlucky to be run out when Zampa deflected a straight drive off Kohli's blade to the stumps.

Kuldeep, who was the most impressive bowler on show, was taken to cleaners by the two Aussies who creamed off 15 runs in the 43rd over to ease some pressure. Kohli was finally dismissed while trying to pull Pat Cummins. "When I got the opportunity to bat at No. 5 in the India A series in New Zealand, I think I did pretty well there and that gave me the confidence that when I bat in the middle overs, I should just take my time and look to play as many singles as possible and get odd boundaries that can help my batting". The left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav claimed three for 54 while Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets and conceded only 29 runs from his 10 overs before Shankar sealed the victory.
