A cloudy and cool Easter weekend; a couple warm days follow

As the dry airmass moves to our east, warmer and eventually more humid air will return from the south. Temperatures will reach around or a bit above 90 Saturday through Tuesday.

Temperatures over the Easter weekend are set to break national records, according to the Met Office. Afternoon temperatures will range from 15 or 16 degrees in the northwest to between 17 and 22 degrees elsewhere.

She continued: "We could see some record-breaking temperatures by the time we get to Sunday and Monday".

She said that the top temperature for this Good Friday was 24.5C at Wisley in Surrey, ahead of plenty of varied sunshine for the rest of the UK.

Look for passing showers throughout the morning Saturday and also during the evening and nighttime hours; high 61, low 43.

EASTER SUNDAY: Mostly sunny skies and pleasant weather develops for Easter Sunday, with a mild high temperature of 65 degrees.

Warm and dry in most areas again tomorrow with sunshine developing after clearance of mist and fog. Light winds throughout. Minimum temperature 4°C.

The west and midlands promise the best bets for bouts of hazy sunshine and temperatures nudging 21C or 22C today.

MONDAY: Latest indications suggest breezier generally on Monday especially on the west coast.
