Mavericks making note of what could be Nowitzki’s final home game

Crawford finished with 51 points on 18-of-30 shooting in 38 minutes of action during a 120-109 loss to the Mavericks at American Airlines Center on Tuesday night.

Nowitzki, sitting at 31,540 points with one game left, gave the home crowd another thrill last month by passing Wilt Chamberlain to regain sixth on the career scoring list. "Tonight for me, of course, was the big night".

Dirk Nowitzki gets emotional after announcing that he played his last home game. Barkley added, "It's been an honor and a privilege to watch you - enjoy the rest of your life". He's the nicest man ever.

Before the game, an extraordinary scene unfolded at the arena, as scores of Mavericks employees lined a parking garage to cheer the arrival of Nowitzki.

The seven-foot star, a 14-time All-Star and the sixth-highest scorer in National Basketball Association history with 31,540 points, thanked fans for their support during his 21 years at the club. "M-V-P!" Nowitzki won the league's regular-season MVP award in 2006-07 and earned NBA Finals MVP in 2011, when he delivered Dallas its lone championship.

"The fans have shown me a lot of love already on the road, even though I obviously haven't announced that this is going to be it", Nowitzki said in February. I'm truly trying to see others grow. "I think we've made a big deal about this being his a year ago, and I think he's coming back".

The German power forward played all 21 seasons with the Mavericks.

The news came on the heels of a season full of speculation over Nowitzki's future plans and a pregame setup that hinted that this might be his last game in Dallas.

"All the things he did for the NBA", Doncic said.

Jamal Crawford scored 51 points, one off his career high, in the season finale for the Suns (19-63).
