Meghan and Harry launch official Instagram account

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have joined Instagram.

In their first post Harry and Meghan uploaded several photos, including an image of their joint monogram, as well as a shot of the pair enjoying a sailing trip on Sydney Harbour from their 2018 Australia tour.

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry debuted their own official Instagram account, Sussex Royal, on Tuesday.

The account follows other royal accounts including Kensington Royal, Clarence House, Prince Andrew, Princess Eugenie and charitable organisations including Heads Together and Well Child.

Last month it was announced that Meghan and Harry have created their own royal household, which will be based at Buckingham Palace.

The couple are shortly moving to their new official residence at Frogmore Cottage in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

A further nine pictures of them were shared, showing the duke and duchess on official visits around the world and of causes important to them.

And outside of any official Royal social media handles, members of the U.K.'s most famous family are not permitted to have their own personal online accounts.

Kensington Palace posted on their page: "Welcome to Instagram, @SussexRoyal!".

Kensington Palace's Twitter feed introduced the new account, saying: "Welcome to Instagram, SussexRoyal!".

The Daily Mail notes: "Meghan did not understand all of this because she was new to the role and so Prince Charles told her that it would not be appropriate".
