NBA star Kristaps Porzingis reportedly accused of rape in New York

When asked if the Knicks were made aware of the incident, a team spokesperson said, "This is Kristaps' personal matter and not related to the Knicks".

Hours earlier, Porzingis had suffered a torn knee ligament while playing for the Knicks.

The woman told the NYPD about the alleged attack on Thursday and waited over a year to talk to law enforcement because she discussed getting $68,000 from the forward to stay quiet, reports the Post.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told the Post via email that the club has been instructed by federal authorities not to comment.

An attorney for Kristaps Porzingis has acknowledged that a woman has accused the National Basketball Association star of rape, but says the Dallas Mavericks forward "unequivocally" denies the allegation.

According to the Post, the woman lived in the same building as Porzingis and said he showed up at her unit around 2 a.m. A high-ranking source within the NYPD told Moore they consider the woman "believable".

According to the Post, the woman accusing Porzingis was a neighbor who says he invited to his apartment on February 7, 2018.

"T$3 he alleged victim told cops Porzingis pinned her down on a bed in his guest room, penetrated her vagina with his penis and then got violent".

Riopelle says the National Basketball Association was notified of the allegations, and Porzingis reported to federal law enforcement in December that the accuser was making "extortionate demands".

The Knicks were reportedly contacted by the New York Post about the allegation.

The Mavericks were also reportedly fully aware of the allegations against Porzingis when they made a decision to trade for him this season, and still pulled the trigger on the trade.

A lawyer for Dallas Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis has issued a statement regarding reported rape allegations from Porzingis' time with the Knicks.
