Southampton 3-1 Wolves: Premier League - Player Ratings

Ralph Hasenhuttl admitted Southampton are exceeding his expectations and are now in a "sensational" position after their 3-1 victory over Wolves.

A brace from Nathan Redmond and a third strike from Shane Long saw them bag a vital three points with other top-flight results going their way.

The win, along with losses for Cardiff and Brighton, means they are eight points clear of the relegation zone with five matches left to play.

They fell behind in the second minute when Redmond poked the ball into the roof of the net at the near post after James Ward-Prowse released Josh Sims on the right flank and the winger delivered a sharp low cross. "For me, it is unbelievable that he was very much criticised last season in this stadium. I think now there is a little less pressure but I want this team to show me we are still focused and trying to win every game". "It was a good start from a team that was hard for me to select".

"After the equaliser, it was good that we had the switch in our game again because we knew exactly that it was not enough to wait".

Wolves are now five without a win on the road in the Premier League.

"It's the most handsome moment of the weekend if you can win and celebrate with the fans".

Wolves will now head to Marbella for some warm-weather training, with Nuno insisting his men had not suffered at Saints due to any FA Cup hangover.

"But how many games have we won at home?" The game was there for us, but we conceded in a way we can not concede.

"Those were the moments we played better".
