7 injured, 2 arrested in Colorado school shooting

The shooting started in the middle school just before 2 p.m., Nicholson-Kluth said.

Seven people have been injured in a shooting at a Denver school where two suspects have been taken into custody and a third is still feared to be on the loose.

Authorities say a shooting at a suburban Denver school has injured two people.

Authorities responded at 1:53 p.m. local time for a "call of shots fired in school", the sheriff's office tweeted.

"This is still an active shooter situation", she said.

The school does not have a school resource officer, authorities said.

Highlands Ranch is a suburb of Denver, and the school is roughly 14 miles from the city center.

They described the situation as unstable and are directing parents to pick up their children at a nearby staging area.

The school was surrounded by first responders, Kelly said. The school is located at 8773 South Ridgeline Blvd., Highlands Ranch.

Updates from the Sheriff's Office of Douglas County have been released on Twitter. "The heart of all Colorado is with the victims & their families", Polis said.
