Best Buy cancels Galaxy Fold preorders

Best Buy cancels Galaxy Fold preorders

The Galaxy Fold had an in-folding display design but it looks like Samsung did consider an out-folding design based on newly published patents. "Because of this, we want to let you know that we are canceling all current preorders for the Galaxy Fold", the email stated.

The price for the Galaxy Fold Game of Thrones Edition is RUB499,000 in Russian Federation, which is equal to $7,700.

This news comes on the back of Samsung postponing the release date of the company's first foldable smartphone in order to fix various problems early reviewers faced when using the device. The phone is created to work whether closed or open; when open, the single screen display is bisected by a crease.

In the Best Buy message regarding the pre-order cancelations, the retailer makes it clear that Samsung hasn't provided it with any new information on the Fold's release date. It is a bold challenge Samsung chose to undertake and one that has provided us with what is arguably one of the most lovely pieces of mobile engineering in a long time.

Both Galaxy Fold outer panels are covered in golden elements, referring to the story of the famous “A Song of Ice and Fire” saga, turned into HBO series that finally ended last week. It has certainly set the precedence for mobile devices for 2019 and beyond.

"With breakthrough designs and technology come many hurdles and the possibility to face a plethora of unforeseen hiccups". Now, it seems Best Buy is exhausted of waiting on the new release date and has made a decision to cancel all of its Galaxy Fold pre-orders. "Because we put our customers first and want to ensure they are taken care of in the best possible manner, Best Buy has chose to cancel all current pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Fold", Best Buy said. Stick around for more info "in the coming weeks".
