Epic Games Store Quietly Launches in Chinese Gray Area

Epic Games Store Quietly Launches in Chinese Gray Area

"Epic Games is providing an additional $10 off to players at no cost to the publisher or developer", reads a press release announcement.

Epic also clarifies that those who have pre-ordered an unreleased game will get the aforementioned £10 (or $10) discount automatically applied as a refund, so they don't have to cancel their pre-order, and re-purchase the game.

There are discounts big and small across the store, but the core of the sale is a $10 discount across the board for every game over $14.99.

In addition to the price cuts, Epic Games also announced that its fortnightly free games will be made weekly for the duration of the sale.

It's not an overt money thing here, because according to John Wick Hex developer Mike Bithell, Epic is picking up the difference and paying developers and publishers that wayward $10.

This statement marks the latest flare-up in a recent string of controversies surrounding the topic, with a flurry of upcoming titles committing to become Epic Store exclusives.

Do I get $10 off games that are already on sale?

"We are delighted to present this year's Special Award to Epic Games", said Chair of BAFTA's Games Committee Dr Jo Twist OBE. Be sure to check back each week for new free game offers.

Epic have announced a new sale on their fledgling game store and it seems like you could pick up a bit of a bargain. At the time of writing, the Epic Games Store lists Stories Untold as the current free game, until 30 May.

To buy games on the Epic Games Store, you have to download the Epic Games Store client.

It has also been announced that Epic Games will be receiving a very special BAFTA award at an event at The London West Hollywood hotel on 12th June. "To all our players, thank you for your patience and understanding around this".

Most notably for consumers, Epic has been giving away a different free game every two weeks to users since January. I grabbed Control, and was planning on getting Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2, but I obviously bought them in the wrong order.
