Afcon 2019: Nigeria have forgotten about Algeria loss - Patrick Pascal

- Ighalo has been involved in five goals in the 2019 AFCON (four goals, one assist), more than any other player. "Now we target the third place". "This is football and we understand the whole team's disappointment. but we have to forget that and focus on the Nigeria game". If they defeat Tunisia on Wednesday, they will extend the record to eight wins.

"So, losing to them is not a shame and we have to be positive as we want to finish this competition well together".

Grisha was in charge of two matches of the Super Eagles during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign: the 2-1 victory over Zambia in Ndola on October 2016 and the 4-0 victory over Cameroon in Uyo on September 2017.

"The match will be very hard physical and technical wise and would try everything we could to achieve the third place. I can't say that all my players are perfectly fit, we have few time to know how ready the players are", Alain Giresse, coach for Tunisia remarked.

Pascal revealed how the players were spoken to, in order to put the defeat behind them and concentrate on the third-place game.

"We try to keep in a good shape in front of Senegal and we were so close to reach the final but now we'll try to get the third place".

The second half saw some flurry of chances which were missed by the Super Eagles.

The game, which kicks off at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo from 8pm, is a first of two West versus North duel at the ongoing 2019 AFCON in Egypt.

"The third-place match must end with a win in favour of Nigeria, and the Super Eagles must come back home with the bronze medals". Both teams have met once in the third place play-off in 1978. The third-place match was tied 1-1 when the Tunisian team left the field in the 42nd minute in protest of the officiating. Nigeria have won three of the six matches between these teams in the tournament, beginning with a 2-1 win in November 1961. The match starts at 19:00 GMT.

Also, Algeria will take on Senegal in Friday's final match at the Cairo International Stadium.
