Leicester have rejected two bids for rumoured Manchester United target Maguire

"He had a great season past year but he's come back very strong and focused".

Leicester City do not plan to sign a centre-back this summer even if Manchester United target Harry Maguire leaves, according to a 13:58 Sky Sports report.

United are the current hot favourites to land Maguire, but there has been some money come in for City to possibly hijack the move at the eleventh hour with the defender open to the idea to joining whichever club agrees a fee with Leicester.

Man Utd are allegedly leading rivals City in the race to sign Maguire.

United will reportedly have to part ways with more than the £75m Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk in January a year ago if they are to sign Maguire.

Leicester are believed to be holding out for up to £90m, a figure that would comfortably make Maguire the most expensive defender in history, surpassing the £75m Liverpool spent on Virgil van Dijk in 2018.

Maguire played 45-minutes in the Foxes' pre-season friendly against Scunthorpe last night and Rodgers says the defender is remaining professional.

In further comments published by the Leicester Mercury, Rodgers added, "I respect and understand that if a team like Manchester United or Manchester City are interested".

"He's never once sulked, he has just gone with it, he's integrated into the group, he's smiled, he's taken part in everything we have wanted to do and he was sick yesterday and we had a number of players that were sick yesterday after we came back from our trip".

"The club have been very good".

The Premier League giants are expected to table an improved offer soon and are quietly confident of taking the England global to Old Trafford this summer.
