Tessa Thompson, whose Valkyrie now rules the Asgardians, also hinted that her character will be the first LGBTQ superhero in the MCU.

io9 caught up with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to get confirmation on the matter that Thompson teased, being asked point blank if the film will explore that territory with the character in the new movie. In the next Thor, the warrior will be looking for her future queen, making her the first LGBTQ+ character in the entire MCU. "But that level of representation you will see across our films, not in just Thor 4". Portman appeared in the first two Thor movies in 2011 and 2013 as Jane Foster, but she was not present in the third film of the Chris Hemsworth series "Thor: Ragnarok".

Waititi is returning to direct the next installment, and it seems he is determined to make sure Valkyrie's sexuality is made explicit in the follow-up.

"I've always had hammer envy", Portman joked, according to Variety.

One of the biggest surprises came when Taika Waititi took the stage to announce Thor: Love and Thunder. She has some ideas.

Speaking with Collider, Feige also confirmed that The Eternals, another project which was officially announced during the presentation, will feature LGBTQ representation in its characters, but it's unclear if any other movies will feature LGBTQ heroes (or villains).

In addition to Chris Hemsworth as Thor himself, returning cast members from previous Marvel movies include Tessa Thompson and Natalie Portman. Basically, everything is legendary and iconic, and we're about to give Marvel all of our coins.

Thor: Love and Thunder is due for release in November of next year. This will be the fourth film in the ever-growing Thor franchise.

Marvel's blockbuster "Avengers: Endgame" brought the decade-long Infinity Saga to a close, leaving some fans wondering, "What's next?" If reports are to be believed then she will pick up the might Mjolnir (hammer) post Thor's death.
