Star cast shines in new trailer Cats

The first trailer for the film was supposed to arrive on Friday, but instead landed on Thursday, showing the cast in slick, body-fitting feline form, prancing and prowling to the ever-recognizable song Memory. These included just how weirdly small the cats appear, their odd 'sexy breasts,' the confusing 'fur coats,' and most of all their creepy mutant human/cat faces. I watched the trailer & cried big kitten tears.

Prior to dropping the trailer, Universal released some BTS footage from the film on Wednesday.

The Cats movie trailer dropped during the first day of the San Diego Comic-Con schedule, and features a truly star-studded collar of cast members - ranging from Taylor Swift, Jason DeRulo, and Jennifer Hudson, to Judy Dench, Rebel Wilson and Idris Elba. Look at all the digital fur technology! Based on a book of T.S. Eliot poetry-turned-popular-Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, Cats has never made much sense.

From the moment this project was announced, I was among the many who debated the wisdom of creating a film adaptation of the Cats musical.

Francesca Hayward plays Victoria in Cats (2019) live-action remake. The trailer provides few lingering shots to get a full picture of how the fur moves, but it fits the actors like Lycra, right up to the eyes.

The movie will be released on December 20, 2019, just in time for the holiday season.

CNN has this to say: "There's a good chance your coworkers are all watching the "Cats" trailer, and there's a very good chance they're all horrified by it".
