Heat advisories issued for parts of Alabama today

Any clouds should slowly dissipate as we lose the heat of the day.

Then we will see partly to mostly sunny and hot conditions. In some areas, the heat was broken up by strong storms. Heat-index values (the combination of the humidity and the high temperature) will be between 95 and 100 degrees. Lingering showers with some lightning is possible through the early evening for things finally start to quiet down. Highs should reach into the low to mid 90s by the afternoon, along with high humidity. Finally, a cold front will move south of the region by Friday ushering in slightly cooler and drier air.

"Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats but can't rule out an isolated tornado", forecasters said in a tweet. Dew points jump into the low 70s, and highs are in the mid 80s.

The National Weather Service said showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected with a slight risk for severe storms. Partly cloudy Wednesday with highs again in the low 80s.

We will have showers and storms on Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the mid to low 80s.
