Manchester City reject Bayern Munich's first bid for Leroy Sane

While City are unhappy at Bayern over their tactics in courting Sane through the media, Guardiola is more philosophical.

The transfer saga has dogged Guardiola throughout City's pre-season tour in Asia and the Spaniard reiterated his stance that he wants to retain the services of the 23-year-old whose 10 goals and 10 assists helped the club defend their league crown.

It comes after Bayern Munich were forced to deny claims that Sane has agreed to join the German champions.

Bild report "official offers" have been sent to both Manchester City and their player, although they have no figures on either, and no indication of where things stand. He hasn't told me anything.

'We want him to stay because we tried to extend the contract for more than a year, ' Guardiola said. The Spaniard further added that the two parties were close to a breakthrough a few months ago, but the situation has changed completely in the last few weeks.

It's Transfer Deadline Day for the Premier League and Championship on Thursday August 8 and Sky Sports will be bringing you all the latest news on who your club is signing.

"I'm not aware of the rumours".

"It's impossible for me to convince any player to stay when he wants to leave, but the player did not tell me anything".

The Spanish manager led City to an unprecedented domestic treble last season but said it counts for nothing when the new season gets underway.

"This is the first title that is important to us", said Bayern star Thomas Mueller a fortnight before the new Bundesliga season starts. City remain hopeful that Sane, whose contract expires in 2021, will commit his future to the club and he is yet to give any indication he wants to leave the Etihad. I think he has incredible gap to develop, incredible in terms of being connected in the game, ' Guardiola said. He was the PFA Young Player of the Year during the 2017-18 season as well.
