Mauricio Pochettino calls Philippe Coutinho as Brazilian nears loan move

Philippe Coutinho will not return to the Premier League this month despite Barcelona offering him to a number of English clubs in recent weeks, sources at the Catalan club have told ESPN FC.

The player himself is also open to moving on, with his agents now looking at suitors in the Premier League.

Football fans were rocked with some odd news on early Tuesday, as reports surfaced suggesting that Barcelona's Brazilian star Coutinho, now the 5th most expensive player of all-time, was on the verge of joining Arsenal on loan.

Barcelona snapped up the Brazil worldwide from Liverpool in the January 2018 transfer window, but he has struggled to make his mark in La Liga.

- While Arsenal's possible chase of Coutinho is uncertain, they have been linked with defenders after Laurent Koscielny's departure to Bordeaux.

However, it's "unlikely" that any Premier League club will match Barcelona's £80million asking price.

Now, the playmaker is already being linked with a move away from Barcelona.

It's Transfer Deadline Day for the Premier League and Championship on Thursday, August 8 and Sky Sports will be bringing you all the latest news on who your club is signing.

Additionally, in the same report, it is being claimed that Arsenal is not prepared to meet the £55 Million that Leipzig wants for Dayot Upamecano.

If this move happens then it will obviously be a top signing for Arsenal but it has also created a few doubts in the fans mind since Unai Emery will have to sacrifice a forward player in order to accommodate the Brazilian.

Should the deal go through, the 27-year-old would be on a similar salary to Spurs captain Harry Kane, who is said to make £200,000 ($243k) per week.

Despite their Coutinho rejection, Spurs are still targeting a marquee signing this summer.
