Rosa Parks Honoured With a Barbie Doll on Women Equality Day

The "Inspiring Women Series" dolls are based on historical figures and come with educational information about the contributions each woman made to society, according to CNN.

"Hailed as 'the Mother of the Modern Civil Rights Movement, ' Rosa Parks earned worldwide recognition and numerous awards including the prestigious Presidential Medal of Freedom and Congressional Gold Medal of Honor".

Mattel toy brand is honoring civil rights activist Rosa Parks with her own Barbie doll for Women's Equality Day, which is celebrated on August 26.

These two historic figures join other women, such as Frida Kahlo, as part of Mattel's Inspiring Women Series, which debuted on Women's Equality Day past year.

"Rosa Louise Parks led an ordinary life as a seamstress until an extraordinary moment on December 1, 1955", Barbie's description of the dolls reads.

Mattel unveiled the Inspiring Women Series to mark International Women's Day previous year, with 17 new dolls representing real women to serve as role models that included Olympic snowboarding champion Chloe Kim, artist and activist Frida Kahlo and Wonder Woman filmmaker Patty Jenkins.

Amelia Earhart, Katherine Johnson and Frida Kahlo are also part of this collection.

It's available online now for $30 and comes with a doll stand, certificate of authenticity and educational information about her role in our handsome Black and American history. "By celebrating their achievements with dolls made in their likeness, we hope girls will be inspired to pursue their dreams".
